The DVD is out!
You might have seen it on HBO or BBC last summer. Now, The Art of Failure is finally available on DVD. So, all you art-lovers, please check it out at www.theartoffailure.com.
I have spent over five years following a brilliant, self-destructive painter whose career had seen better days. In fact, Connelly had been one of the raising art stars in the 1980’s along the likes of Schnabel and Basquiat. More recently, as the filming of the documentary commenced, Connelly’s life fell apart. His wife left, his patron died, and his small gallery left him. Nobody wants to have anything to do with him, because of his excessive drinking and uncompromising attitude. So he decides to hire a young, friendly, and good-looking (unknown) actor to try to sell his paintings. The work is still great, and now “the package” is much better. The actor ends up getting a gallery show in New York, and even sells some paintings!
